If I am being completely honest, I start thinking about my Thanksgiving menu in August.
By the beginning of October, I have usually started preparing a few things. Sometimes it is testing a new pie filling. Sometimes it is freezing a batch of dinner rolls. Other times, it is making a jar of cranberry sauce to tuck away.
It is my way of easing into the season and making sure the holiday feels calm and joyful instead of rushed.

For years, I went all out on Thanksgiving.

It was fun… but also a lot of work.
These days, most years it is just my husband and me. I have learned the joy of keeping it simple — just our absolute favorites, made really well.
